I think i would like to see statewide voting for house and then seats apportioned by state vote and location within state. Maybe 4 year term for house and term limits. Maybe 6 year, one term for president. Abolish electoral college. How about mandatory retirement from SC at 80.

Some good ideas. It is difficult to make such changes within a system. Not sure how your house vote works. I hate the electoral circus the US has, I've actually come to consider the PM approach better, but the US Pres has more power than most PM's do. It's what bugs the heck out of me about people who venerate the US Constitution. The Constitution should be obeyed, as that is what we live under, but it is by no means the best and end all of constitutional thought.

However, the only way the US will make major changes is if some other country adopts various improvements, and they are seen over the course of 50 years or so to cleary be superior. If that ever happens, we may then follow their lead. Otherwise I doubt it.

Truth be told, for all our problems, no other country I know of has the level of individual freedom, stability, justice, and pro work ethic we do. You can find individual countries which surpass us on any one item, but not all, IMO. So it is difficult for any other country to show us up overall, form our POV anyway.
