Oh, yeah, Rose Bird! I remember her! She lives a few towns up from here (if she's still alive). She never saw a DP she would uphold. I remember voting against her and her cronies on the CA Supreme Court. She and one other justice were removed from the court. The remainder of the cronies got the message.

Note to non-CAers: In this state, the guv nominates Supremes who are then confirmed (or not) by the state senate. BUT periodically (4 years? 6 years?) they have to be re-approved for another term by the voters. Usually it's pretty automatic. But not in Birds case. Her record got her thrown off.

Moonbeam. Yeah. Well, Oakland is no more screwed up under him than it was before. Of course, it was pretty screwed up before.

Some years back, the city council there decided to rename MLK Blvd (a disasterous street with much gang violence) International Blvd. At a cost of hundreds of thousands to change street sign, official maps, addresses, etc. They claimed to be convinced that this would turn things arounf and turn it into Disneyland. I figure some contractor bribed the council.

Oh. They're talking now about changing it back to MLK Blvd. :-)
