Michael, I believe that ASML has at least 1 year advantage on Nikon.

ASML up till now sold 15 immersion machine's of the first, second and third generation.
The first fourth generation system, the Twinscan XT:1700Fi, with NA 1.20 for 45-nm lithography will be delevered to Imec at the end of the first quarter 2006, followed by a second machine to Albany Research in the US.
ASML told that it is planning to ship 20 to 25 1.2 hyper NA immersionmachine's next year.

In the Immersion Products Roadmap I saw on the link you mentioned that 'the Competitor' is planning to ship a 45-nm development system somewhere in Q1/Q2 2006.

The Twinscan XT:1700Fi is no development machine. The XT:1700Fi with HydroLith immersion technology delivers the world’s first 1.2 hyper NA for high-volume manufacturing at the 45-nm node.

By the way. How many immersion machines, or even prototypes, did Nikon sell?
This lithoworld is pretty small, and any succes of Nikon would be in bold on any magazine world wide.
I didn't see any story. I read only words......from Nikon management. But words make no chips.
