I never said the prosecutor was the sharpest blade in the drawer. But, he changed the charge to a regular criminal conspiracy charge. The judge ruled that conspiracy to break election laws was not a crime prior to 2003, because the legislature passed a law specifically to bar election law conspiracy, and the legislature never commits 'useless acts' (I think was the way he put it).

Note that Ann and her minion are not actually defending DeLay as far as the criminal charges. They are attacking and ridiculing the prosecutor, but they don't argue the facts of the case. Talk about a bunch of 'tough on crime' hypocrites.

What about the claim that he didn't launder money because he wrote a check? Doesn't that sound like the defense used by an innocent man?

DeLay is a slime ball.
