Shares of Intel slipped after hours Thursday after the chipmaker merely narrowed the range of its sales guidance for the current quarter to $10.4 billion to $10.6 billion.
The $10.5 billion midpoint of the new guidance is the same as it was in its earlier range of $10.2 billion to $10.8 billion.

Many analysts had expected Intel to bump up the midpoint slightly in its new guidance. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call are expecting $10.6 billion in revenue, with 43 cents EPS, for the current quarter.

Intel also said capital spending is expected to below the midpoint of its previous expectation of $5.9 billion

On Wednesday, Texas Instruments and Xilinx both bumped up their forecasts.
