Oh please. Everyone knows that was a phony dishonest stunt by the rightwingers in congress. In fact, it backfired so badly that now bigshot rightwing congressman Duncan Hunter can pack his bags. He won't be re-elected as a result. And Jean Schmidt, already a twit, is now seen as the most embarrassing congress-person there is. Even in a rightwing district she'll be driven out of office. Nobody will vote for her now.

Plus, the attacks against Murtha and Kerry have been totally phony. Trying to call these war heros cowards and traitors? How ridiculous is that? And now we see the White House bending to offer their own withdrawl plan. Rumsfeld today is talking about withdrawing 30,000 troops. Not enough, not fast enough but it's a start in the right direction.

Now 87% of Americans want a full or partial withdrawl as Kerry and Murtha are suggesting. BTW, this also forced Bush to finally make a cohesive speech about Iraq, though he still doesn't get it. There can't be "victory" in Iraq so long as we are occupying that country. our very presence there creates its own insurgency.

Only 27% approve of the Republicans in congress, lowest ever rating. 69% disapprove. 25 point drop in 18 months, even worse than Bush's ratings.

The Harris Poll. Nov. 8-13, 2005. N=1,011 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.

"How do you rate the job Republicans in Congress are doing: excellent, pretty good, only fair, or poor?"
