No doubt alternatives can be found, but they won't be cheaper, I guarantee you. Why don't you list a few of these alternatives? And tell us how they would be less expensive while you're at it. If you have a better and cheaper idea for shipping grain from the midwest other than through the port of NO, let us know. Midwestern farmers will be glad to know they've been shipping grain foolishly for the past 100 or so years. Ditto Gulf of Mexico oil and gas. Ditto the dozens of multi-billion dollar chemical plants we have around here from which we export a huge amount of chemicals. I'm all ears.
