It may have become a sore spot but never a tinderbox that threatened world peace. Unimaginable It's not the tinderbox that threatens world peace. The tinderbox is the Arabs' failure to come to grips with the modern world, their sense of inferiority and wounded pride, and resultant nursing of grudges and embrace of fantasy. Israel is a particularly sore point because Israel's survival and success is a foil for their own failure. Had Israel not existed, they would have found another focus with which to hate the West, that is all. There would have been another, you may be sure.
