I lived through it, obviously. I did the same when paddled in fourth grade. Times do change.

Our older son had to scrub a bathroom wall in first grade for writing a bad word on it. The teacher said she figured he was the only one who could spell it correctly and when confronted, he admitted it. I think he was proud. Now had it been misspelled, THAT would have been demeaning. I would have made him write it correctly 100 times first. And then scrub it off. :)
