what happened if someone else wanted to buy the item?

When an item is pawned it is not for sale unless and until the loan is defaulted.

One worry for illegals is that if they get jailed or deported their tools could go up for sale.
The Pawn shop trys to avoid that.
They can make more money on high interest loans than on selling used stuff.
