OK, I have not had the time to read your link on Coast 2050. I am assuming it is what folks think is necessary, backed by sound advice on it.

Lets assume - yes,it needs to be done. What is the bone of contention then ? Is State/Fed/local govt saying "no" ? If they are, is there a sound reason for that stance ?

Once these wetlands are restored, they will reduce the impact of hurricanes.

I suspect you are barking up an unattainable tree on the wetlands. Figure on getting the money for the gates, channels and dikes.

Ironically, the things that made Southern La. economically valuable to the rest of the country is what is destroying it.
