I can't do that Wayne. I can't find anywhere where the statistics are broken down in that way. I found this - I imagine MOST of these were from legal weapons, and at least a very, very few from machine guns, which are rare anyway:

www-medlib.med.utah.edu

"In the U.S. for 2001, there were 29,573 deaths from firearms, distributed as follows by mode of death: Suicide 16,869; Homicide 11,348; Accident 802; Legal Intervention 323; Undetermined 231.(CDC, 2004) This makes firearms injuries one of the top ten causes of death in the U.S."..

(It's interesting that "Legal Intervention" accounts for the LEAST deaths for using a gun in a lethal manner! Guns seem MOST useful for suicide.)

"The number of non-fatal injuries is considerable--over 200,000 per year in the U.S. "..

"Child safety is an important issue. Firearms injury is the second leading cause of non-natural death in childhood and adolescence. (CDC, 2004) Accidental shooting deaths are most commonly associated with one or more children playing with a gun they found in the home. (Choi, et al, 1994) The person pulling the trigger is a friend, family member, or the victim. (Harruff, 1992)"..

Why don't YOU prove that NONE of these deaths and injuries were from legal machine guns, as you claim? I think it's interesting that the Centers for Disease Control ranks gun deaths right along with other kinds, like it's a DISEASE!
