Weichert's talking about running against him and ct is a liberal state so there is no assurance as to reelection given his war view. Would you take Powellm McCain or luger at DOD? If so Lieberman should be to your liking as well. If not any in my group who would be your choice at DOD for bush or for a future democratic president? Did you like bill cohen, clintons choice?
PS icy rain now.

I've seen several arguments that the real power at Defense is Cheney, not Rumsfeld. If that's true, and if Cheney retains significant influence over Bush, the Lieberman option is even less likely.

Cheney and Rumsfeld go way back. Cheney once worked for Rmsfeld. Besides, Rumsfeld is a Dr. NO type character. No way he is someones puppet.

The Lieberman option imo is purely Karl Rove type of idea to divide and embarass the dems. All the neocons would be behind this move. Plus, the usual suspects David Brooks, George Will, Krauthammer, Fox cable news bunch, etc will be on board. No Harriet Mier opposition can get any traction.

It seems obvious Joe wants the job. He is not even trying to hide the brown stuff on his nose.
