Israel is still pursuing the tactics and methods of apartheid

Do you not see the change in Israel the last couple of years as a big improvement?

Hell the 1948 partition borders would have been fine with me if the palestinians had accepted them after partition. Problem is that facts on the ground change over time and neither 1948 or 1967 are realistic now. The plight of the palestinians concerns me too but the israelis are only partly to blame and in recent times have had palestinian terror tactics to deal with. The Arab states were slow to accept partition, sanctity of any of the borders and even now more palestinians that you would care to admin have a view of the eventual liberation of all of palestine including israel. And of course the palestinian refugees were/are kept in squalor by whom? There are no refugees in the world who have retained refugee status for as long as the pals. Why do you suppose that is true? Having pals in this condition benefits corrupt arab regimes who assuage their subjects with hatred of the Jews who are blamed for everything in stark anti-semetic terms.
Bottom line is that israel wont commit national suicide but at the same time has also realized that there must be complete separation and internationally recognized borders. Give sharon credit where and when it is due. FYI I am no Likudnik or biblical prophesy type guy. Those borders wont be 1967 borders or even the borders that could have been had under clinton/barak/arafat. They will take into account facts on the ground as of now. Neither side will get all they want but at least the palesinian areas will have self govt and and economic fututre with all the aid that is/will be pumped in. Eventually the two peoples can enter into a more sincere peace and actually live as good neighbors. mike
