Yes, I did. And no, the conspiracy charge was not the 'major charge', if you talking punishment. Conspiracy is up to two years, whereas money laundering is 5-Life and conspiracy to commit money laundering is another two years.

I do not believe you read the new indictment carefully, else you won't have so much trouble with the evidence. They cite specific instances of how the money was laundered, by whom, how much, etc. It would seem that the money laundering would be easier to prove as conspiracy requires some witnesses, whereas money laundering does not (the paper trail should suffice). The only difficult part would be linking DeLay via conspiracy to the money laundering.

Note that you're not correct in saying I find it difficult to believe a jury will convict anyone on such flimsy evidence of a 'crime' that was legal three years ago in Texas, because that charge was thrown out. Money laundering has been illegal for some time, even in Texas... :)
