You are venturing into the area of 'natural laws'.

I was referring merely to the plain fact that LAWS are written down, and thus it's the technical letter of the law that is required to be enforced.

*All* laws are 'technical'.

You mentioned 'rape' though.

Statutory rape is subject to a variety of different technical requirements (different ages in different States apply... what is legal in MS is *not* legal in MA, for example).

As far as 'regular' rape laws... the issue of 'consent' is highly technical. Juries REGULARLY return all kinds of different results based upon if the victim was 'drunk' or not, etc.

All laws are technical.
