ku, Re: QCOM valuation and “the stock is richly valued compared to its competitors ...”

I think you you’re overlooking the growth element which should command a higher PE reflective of such. The Q is unique in that the wireless world is entering 3G where Q will receive royalties on ALL 3G devices and will capture a large proportion of the chipset business. The companies you mentioned are dominant in GSM, and will become less so in 3G as the playing field is leveled and competition increases, all enabled by Qualcomm .

+New growth opportunity- Entering GSM markets for first time as subscribers upgrade to 3GSM.handsets (WCDMA)

+ World wide wireless subscriber growth for next 5 years is exclusively within CDMA/WCDMA markets
+ 5 year Compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) estimated at 39%

+ CDMA/WCDMA world wide wireless handset sales will replace GSM as the dominant technology in 2008
+ 5 year compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) estimated at 32%

...........................LT Growth- Consensus
TXN-19.75.......... 20%- I doubt it, as their GSM business declines (NOK is 10% grower)
NOK-16.41..........10%-
MOT-18.13..........12%
ERICY- 16.75......10%
BRCM-28.03........25%- seriously doubt- no presence in 3G baseband / no license from Q
AVG- 19.81
