Chuck Hagel is a great choice regardless of who wins. I always like Sam Nunn. Rumsfeld has made a terrible mess of things. One thing that dont want now or never again is an arrogant sob. I really wanted to use the p***k word to describe him but i should keep calm.
As to US fp, it has always "been a catastrophe". I never remember it being smooth. Remember the ugly american from the 50s and 60s? Nothing seems to change and whether we are isolationsist or wilsonian it doesnt matter, we are hated because of what we have amassed as much as how we behave. Mike
PS I am giving up picking candidates for republicans for awhile. For the dems i would like to see someone new. What do you know about mark warner. I like governors for president--less paper trail like Roberts as opposed to alito. Be back on wednesday. Dont slip on the ice oldtimer. (g) Mike

We need a bipartisan administration the next time around. I might argue for Chuck Hagel at DOD in that case. I would argue against McCain because he would try to dominate the cabinet.

I have the perfect candidate, but this guy is never going to get any recognition.

This guy is a soldier's soldier. He has no ego. He is an organizational genius. He can reorganize the military to fit future national security needs. He is non political. He is relatively young and has experience as a four star general. He was Army Chief of Staff. He is General ("several hundred thousand") Shineseki.

Too bad he will never be considered.
