I am curious why people think Murtha hasn't changed. He could have easily gone bad. Benedict Arnold was an American hero fighting for the colonies. He changes sides. It isn't difficult to understand.

Not a single rightwing leader ever served in combat. Most were intentional draft-dodgers. Including Bush, Cheney, Delay. Yet they constantly smear Silver Star winning democrats who are head and shoulders above them in terms of manhood and military expertise.

Bushies accuse others of not caring about the troops, but they are the only ones short-changing our men in uniform, trying hard to slash as much as they can from veterans health benefits and pay. One of the first things Bush did when he came into power was slash VA hospital budgets.

Worse, Bushies mis-manage wars badly. They let ma ceasefire be called at Tora Bora allowing Bin Lauden to escape. 2.5 after the Mission Accomplished photo op, Bush only now has some inkling of how to get out of there. He calls it "victory" but it has been a terrible boondoggle and the future of Iraq is extremely troubling and uncertain.

Yet the Bushies love to pose with the troops as stage props, talk like tough warriors and have never seen a defense contractor check they didn't like.

The rightwing has failed us as military leaders. Iraq is all the proof we need. Out with the whole lot of them in 2006.
