Yes, Bushies think they can turn Iraq into a VICTORY, or at least blame war critics and sensible people in the country for the screwed-up situation over there. But the mess in Iraq is the fault of Bush-Cheney. They were the ones who lied to us and rushed in without a plan past the first few days in invasion. That set up a civil war style quagmire which after 2.5 years may or may not have light at the end of the tunnel.

The painful truth is that our very occupation over there has caused most of the insurgency and terrorism. So even though we all support our troops, we have to oppose Bush-Cheney and his policy-makers and try to force them into changing course and bringing this debacle to an end.

BTW, whenever you hear Bush boasting about Iraq, remember, now that he's pissed off the Islamic majority in Iraq and at the same time given them the ability to vote, he may have assured Iraq of becoming an Islamic republic similar to Iran. That was just what his father was trying to avoid. It may indeed turn out to be that Saddam was the lesser evil, but we won't know for many years.
