Hmm, I decided to read your post. You're tilting at windmills. I've been skeptical of Henry's campaign from the beginning, partly for the reasons you list, and expressed that sentiment on his site a few times while he was still around. I had a sizeable portfolio of flu or vaccine related stocks, and have sold them all - because I don't believe that the mutation, if it happens, will happen this year.

And finally, I never buy any stock based on takeover rumors. Short plays on companies that have run up on hype are indeed an excellent way to make money, IF your timing is exquisitely perfect. So I don't have shorts in the Avian flu area yet.

To Earl and Tom P. ...
Re: your post
"How long do you suppose it will take for the folks going long on fantasy flu plays to realize they have been suckers, lose faith and bail?"

==========================================
Now, THAT is not funny.
I remember when the SARS hype hit 2 or 3 yrs. ago, I bought some obscure penny stock in November which I'd made 50X my money on. I continued to hold it, thinking I'd make 100X my money, expecting the "outbreak" to continue.
By the end of February, the party was over. My gains were gone ... and so was the company. I don't even remember the symbol.
