John, For months the main stream democratic coordinated line has been that Bush lied. The charge has been viscious and as mean spirited as one can possibly imagined. On the eve of the election - on the very eve of the election - got that - dems have been seeking political opportunity with what they thought was a weakened Bush. They did not give one rats butt for the troops or the impact of their action - they wanted political blood and thought they were getting it.

Now in a very short period of time hardball has been answered by hardball. Like Commander Queeg in the Caine Mutiny they ar crumbling like dry sand. If the add hurts - I hope they enjoy it - they earned it and deserve it.

For Bush it was not possible to stay above the fray. These guys don't care about America, the future or our troops. They care about power and thought they had found the way to get it - regardless of the implications of their route.

I hope they enjoy it and I hope Howard Dean has a long tenure as head of the Democratic party. What a wonderful asset he is for us.

Agree.

It's a stupid ad.

The fact that others disagree doesn't make them less patriotic.

It's insulting. And not received well by lots of folks who are not quite as right wing as the denizens of this thread but who nonetheless support W.

All of us want out of Iraq, the only disagreement is the circumstances under which the withdrawal takes place. This is how the argument should be framed.

Not that the Dems are also acting unfairly and stupidly, particularly with respect to the "Bush lied" BS. However, I think it is no reason to debase the GOP's arguments with ads like the white flag ad.

The white flag ad is exactly what the Democrats deserve. Their whole strategy has been to reframe the war, reframe the events leading up to the war, reframe how the war is being fought and how it's going, and reframe Bush's leadership of the war.

This is a brilliantly simple ad that simply turns the tables on them with their own words and their own framing techniques.

It is the perfect response on the very battleground the Democrats themselves have chosen.

If it served no purpose, no one would have a issue with it.

It's brilliant, and it's way overdue.
