Bill Frist: Howard Dean's Comments 'Dangerous

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist blasted Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean on Sunday, calling his prediction last week that the U.S. will lose the war in Iraq "irresponsible and dangerous."

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Frist branded Dean's comments "potentially dangerous to our homeland security and U.S. security around the world."

"For the first time, at least in my memory," the top Republican explained, "we have a leader of a party, the Democratic Party, coming out and saying - in a time we're at war, with our troops watching, with terrorists watching - that we cannot win, that we will be defeated."

"It's absolutely irresponsible and dangerous to the security of this country," Frist declared.

In comments that threaten to solidify the Democratic Party's image as weak on national security, Dean told a Texas radio station on Monday: "The idea that we're going to win this war is an ideal that unfortunately is just plain wrong."

He later claimed the remark was taken out of context.
