Dark Matter -- U.S. owned assets which produce revenue, but which are not included on our balance sheet as assets.

Hmmm, I wonder what the real world examples of this "dark matter" are? A systematic under-counting of intellectual property?

Dark Matter - transfer pricing adjusted to reduce high US taxes. Cash ends up over seas, where it helps the US investment 'returns' by actually being a return of capital.

Some of the cash is actually invested, but doesn't show up in official statistics. This will increase the investment base.

I don't that US investors in appregate are that much better than the rest of the world. Templeton, Mark Mobius, Jim Rogers, Warren Buffet and a few others - but they are a minority.
