<<The Air Marshalls had a hammer so all they could figure out was that the panicking guy was a nail.>>

About a year prior to 9/11 a local smart ass was at the ticket counter and was asked what was in his brief case that was full of blue prints. Now this idiot said "a bomb" and wound up on the floor seeing how well two security guys had cleaned the insides of the barrels of their pistols. The FBI showed up and he missed his flight and all flights for three days and then all flights because he couldn't leave the county while out on bond. $10,000 in fines and three years probation, still couldn't leave the county. Now he can but the airlines have him on the no fly list.

We'll just have to wait for the findings of the investigation...

I wasn't there, and neither was anyone else..

But I just can't imagine two air marshals willing to endanger the lives of other passengers unless they had a compelling reason to believe their own lives were in danger (such as the guy reaching to pull a weapon, or detonate a bomb)..

I just don't know...

But I totally disagree with your comment about firing all air marshals. I believe it's a great deterrent effect (when they permit them to dress down and look like average passengers)..

In free societies, the answer to stepping out of a very narrow circumscribed robot-like routine isn't death. We have a broader view of humanity.

There is a WAR going on between Islamofacsists and the rest of the world deemed infidels.

When war occurs innocent people die. No big deal compared to the soldiers who die volunteering to protect our liberty.

Is it a statement of pacifism when you say "we have a broader view of humanity"?
How do we identify who are included in "we"?

You know, it's not surprising that not a single suicide bomber has preannounced his or her intention. Why the hell would a suicide bomber try to get off a plane to set off a suicide bomb in the first place?

The other day, I heard a kid say the b word waiting in the tsa line. He asked in the general sense whether the security guards were checking for bombs. I guess under tsa standards, he could have been shot for speaking the unspeakable word.

In every sense of the word, I think the security levels for the US are equally dumb. We had no idea what was coming at us on 911. Why increase or decrease the security threat to reflect credible or non credible threats? It negates the whole opportunity for plausible deniability, which is the backbone of our security agencies (or not).

The only good thing about the tsa is that there is a huge increase in federal jobs for poor people at the airports across the us. It is one of the biggest employment opportunities in the US for the past 20 years.
