I will concur with Third Eye that the film certainly had something valuable to offer; for me it was an altered perspective. I would like to elaborate with specific details; however, I do not wish to discuss my points and take away from the film for potential viewers. I would not necessarily recommend the film to those wishing to be "entertained", rather, it will leave you with a feeling that you were witness to something you were not supposed to see. The film merely scrapes the surface of the corruption of the power elite--more specifically, the multinational oil corporations--but fails to show you how far the "rabbit hole" goes. I think some people will be disappointed by this, as many might expect it see an expose of our current political administration, which it clearly is not. At first, the screenplay seems muddled and without a specific direction, but it soon becomes obvious as the film progresses that the viewer is intentionally left off balance; there are no clear heros to root for, and those you expect to despise--more specifically, the Arabic power elite--are humanized, and subject to manipulation, in spite of their best efforts to exist in the global economy. This is not a movie for those who wish to see a narrative with a clear message or storyline. In fact, some of the grumbles I heard from moviegoers were those who were expecting an arabic shoot-em-up. If you chose to see this film, be prepared to think on you feet. I think if you are the type who likes to leave a film with more questions than answers, Syriana will appeal to you. I found it to be worth my time and money. Regards, Scott However, the popcorn was really stale......
