That's why its gov't that builds freeways, airports, subways etc. Those items are built for the common good and the common good benefits.

The government pays for the infrastructure to be built for the common good, when common good is the beneficiary.

The common good is a term that applies to all of us at one time or another but not necessarily at the same time. It does me little good that they are rebuilding FLA with fed. monies after its series of hurricanes last year. However, if where I live gets hit with a storm or earthquake, I would expect the same done for us. That's the way it has worked for most of this country's history. If suddenly you are changing the rules, let me know.......the blue states continue to carry the red states and its getting old.......we'd love to get out from underneath the burden.

Many towns have become ghost towns when they no longer benefitted the common good.

We are not talking a town here......NO is a major city. I have not known of any major city in this country that we've turned our back on when in trouble. Why do you want to start now?

"With your attitude, few cities would be rebuilt in this country after a natural disaster. "

When you show me the benefit to the common good, I will support you. Otherwise, move to higher ground.

I've already given you two good reasons.

When San Francisco falls off, people will rebuild East of the San Andreas Fault... but they will be whining about their losses, just like you.

Where do you live?
