I have said no such thing. We could build an artificial Island to support these port industries. It would be unrealistic and a foolish waste of money to do that since we have land based options. I simply have questioned whether or not re-building NO as it was is the best option to accomplish this or are there others. Currently these industries are operation at some capacity and as you have noted, we haven't satisfactorily re-built NO.


When I made that post, I did not realize that you had not read my post on its importance as a port and oil refiner.

Why not just raise the below sea level parts of NO above sea level? It's not ALL below sea level. Or build a decent levee? Either one makes more sense than an "artificial island".

Either one would cost less than the six billion a month we're wasting in Iraq for the chimp's pride.
