Don't you notice how every issue is greeted with a bottomless checkbook? TP, over my years here at SI I have spent a lot of time listening to folks on the right and trying to understand the various factions and how they fit and didn't fit together. There have been some SIers who have been patient and helpful, providing me with explanations and references. One of them was Neocon, who was particularly forthcoming and helpful and whom I miss a lot. He could have addressed this disagreement authoritatively (if not crisply <g>). I claim no great expertise on this subject because much of what they believe does not resonate with me and it's hard to make sense out of things that don't intuitively make sense, but at least I have enough feel for it to not throw labels around cavalierly and enough respect to not use those labels as weapons. I'm not going to bore the thread further with "semantic" objections. You are, of course, free to use whatever words you like as indiscriminately as you like and I will just overlook them. As for the bottomless checkbook approach of the current administration, it saddens me because I find it terribly wrongheaded and it irritates me because it is so hypocritical coming from the GOP.
