"Killing to stop murders is a losers game.

Unless you are acting in self defense of course.

I would not argue that capital punishment stops murders. So I don't know why you addressed that to me.

My argument is:

The role of the justice system is to exact a fair and equitable resolution regarding criminal acts. No human justice system claims to be perfect but it should be obvious that there are limits to the system.

The system cannot provide a fair and equitable resolution to heinous criminals that commit serial rapes and murders on innocent children for example. If you know of a fair and equitable resolution that reconciles this type of act I would like to hear about it.

Long term incarceration for some sickos is not even punishing (Ted Bundy is a prime example of someone who was rewarded within such a system).

What do you propose as a fair and just resolution to this type of heinous crime?

Currently we simply must recognize the limit of the justice system to resolve or reconcile the crime of a heinous criminal. I don't claim that capital punishment exacts any kind of justice since that would suggest a fair and equitable outcome for all concerned. It does resolve the issue, however.
