I did that for years. I was the only one I knew who didn't have cable....that was until the cable company offered broadband. My pact with the devil was I take regular cable and they install the cable from a mile away so I can have the Internet. The payment was I lost my husband to the TV. The good news is that all I have to do is hide the remote to get him to take a night off because no man would be caught dead changing a station by physically touching the TV.

The new reality is that you NEED 500 channels and TIVO to pick the wheat from the dross. There's some of the best TV ever on, but it's scattered across the 500 channels. Much of it is ONLY on cable, as it can't be broadcast.
