While I favor a pretty strict, straight forward, relatively literal, interpretation of the constitution I still think some interpretation is needed.

I wouldn't call someone who said that nuclear weapons where constitutionally protected "flat out wrong" in terms of reading the constitution. I do think there is some level of uncertainty in this case. Also we have to deal with the real world. If we figure that we have a 2nd amendment right to own nukes I'd support the government acting unconstitutionally to prevent private ownership until the constitution could be amended.
