I find comments like this, "no matter how emotionally gratifying they may be to many people." to be highly offensive. Why? If it doesn't apply to you then don't worry about it. There is nothing that society can do to a heinous criminal that is gratifying. It is presumptuous to suggest that executions are motivated by blood lust. I see plenty of "rah, rah, fry the f*cker" type posts just here on SI. Sounds pretty blood lusty to me. And I've read some accounts of days gone by when public executions are connected to some sick eroticism. Anyway, I'm done posting on this subject...
