If you have a link in a page you want to open, right click it. You have the option to "open in new window" or "open in new tab." Select the New Tab option.

Likewise, if you want to type in the URL to a new website, but want to leave your current window (tab) open, press Ctrl-T and a new tab will open. Type in your url in the address window to pull up the new site. (Alternately, you can select File and then select New Tab)

Once you start using tabs, the Windows scheme of multiple windows will see outdated and clunky.

Go to your Tools menu, then click Extensions. A small window opens up listing any extension you have. At the bottom, click on the link that says "Get More Extensions." That opens up a tab or window at a webpage where you can get more extensions. You can read the description of each to decide whether you want it.

I like Firefox. The only problem I had was on a webpage for Blue Cross where a drop-down list was improperly displayed. I switched over to IE and completed my transaction satisfactorily.

There's also a button on the toolbar to "open new tab" if you prefer button clicks to keyboard shortcuts.

Go to your top toolbar and rightclick. Then open "customize." Move the "double blue plus" sign called "new tab" to the bar. Move any others there that you would like to use and remove any you won't use. I have the "home" and "cut" there also.

When you click the "new tab" you will get a blank screen with a tab at the top. Use it to open any bookmark you want to use. You will notice a blank toolbar at the top. This is a "bookmark" toolbar and you can slide any bookmarks from your side section to that toolbar.
