WRONG. By your own reasoning, the 2nd amendment applies basically to weapons that were available AT THE TIME CONSTITUTION STARTED OPERATION- -1789 and single-shot weapons. We are more than 200 years past that and it has been a 200 years like none ever before seen in human history- -constant and accelerating technological change. The US military has weapons the founders could not even concieve of. Remember, it was not until 1810 that Dalton proposed the atomic theory of matter on a halfway-scientific basis and not until this century that the atom was shown to have parts and be fissable and fusable.

How long do you think you and your neighbors could even hold off the US military, if it came to it, much less defeat them?

much like the requirement that the Commander In Chief is an elected civilian.
How many have been generals?
As long as we have the Second Amendment, we are safe.
NUTS!

The ONLY thing that keeps you safe now is the good will of your gov't and the fact that the military might, in a crunch, turn its weapons on that gov't, such as happened to the last Czar and the last Kaiser. If those fail, you get a military dictatorship.

I can remember, back when we had a draft, it was said that our protection against the gov't was the fact that its soldiers were the boys next door. Now we have an all-volunteer professional military. Does that make you feel safer?
