The end of protectionism is war. Ready for that cycle? War with the east over oil is now inevitable. OXY was just China testing the waters. The new soldier will likely have to be paid much more than todays's poor grunts. The new army will consist of 25,000 man Stryker "swat" teams. Able to deploy anywhere in the world in 24 hours. They are mobilizing one in Hawaii right now. Just like many soldiers are now on their 3rd tour in the middle east, the future soldier will constantly be deploying to the next "hot spot" to protect corporate interests abroad. I envision a 20 year vet might actually do 15 tours of action rather than 2 or 3.

It's not a pretty picture but all the signs sure seem to point in that direction....

Have you been following the election in Bolivia? Chavez take 2.

We are a debtor nation -- the debtor nation to end all debtor nations. They are our creditors -- saving 45 cents of every dollar they make. Will they cut off our trade credit? Only when we can't pay our bills. If Americans are prepared to cut their spending in half we can pay down our debts and start to have serious savings. Now there is a trip to fantasy land. Instead, we will watch our nation fall into the same status as all others who squandered their fortunes. We import 2 billion a day to offset our spending spree. We borrow 600 billion dollars a year abroad because we cannot endure the thought that we should be paying more in taxes now, today. We inherited a great nation -- but it is fast sliding from greatness and into ruin. And we have plans for our children -- poverty. Shhhh. Don't tell them, let them sleep.

We,as a nation, could just as easily stop buying foreign made items.

How are we going to make them? We turned all of our old factories into downtown lofts. All of our mechanical engineers are from Asia. It hasn't been profitable to manufacture anything in America for 15 years, and our industrial base is gone.
