Pardon me, but these are parlour games you are playing. We have skyrocketing debts and skyrocketing unfunded commitments to SS and Medicare. And we are burdening future generations with our unpaid bills at an astonishing rate. There is no argument to be made that our finances are wise because they lead to sustainable economic growth and well-being. We have become the freeloader society and we have become clever at discovering intellectual-sounding excuses for our behavior. But the bottom line just keeps telling the truth and lays bare the lie -- we are a debtor nation sinking in a sea of red ink and nobody has the stomach for facing the truth and doing anything about it. If you put it to a vote, the vote will always be the same - screw the next generation. If that is what you want to do so be it. But please spare the insult to intelligence that tries to paint a rational veneer on our government budget deficits as of the moment.
