Oh dear. That almost overpowers my desire to see what larry McMurtry did with the script. He's one of my favorite authors.

My question to Ang Lee: "Why can't two men love each other as friends, without having a sexual element?" I think that is much more common than the gay angle he is pursuing.

I heard a review of "Brokeback Mountain" on NPR the other day. There's a scene in the movie where one of the wives corners her sheepboy about the fact that his fishing creel still has the price tag on it after 5 years. Turns out he was just using his fishing equipment as a prop to support the claim that he was going fishing, when he was really off having an affair with his buddy.

That has got to be one of the most depressing scenes I've ever heard about in a movie. Going off into the beautiful scenic wilderness and not even touching your fishing equipment. Oh the horror!
