"Chaka just posted we should use Virtual Gold - backed by another mans promise - now correct me if I am wrong - but I thought the founding fathers were about using the REAL COINS with no promise by any man - cause men lie - all of them at some point."

US currency after the demise of the continental was either copper, silver, or gold. As Americans learned to have faith in the US government they accepted paper, which could always be redeemed for gold until the early 1930s and silver until the early 1960s. No surprise when the US was fully off a standard (either gold or silver) was when the US inflation really got going as well as US government spending. The piper will be paid for this, the only question is when and how fast. Yes people can lie, intrinsic to a stable civilization is the rule of law to keep people from lying and committing fraud.

"but the gold in your HAND - that is the only TRUTH correct?"

No.

"Elroy Jeston gave me a history lesson about ancient rome, and how over time less and less of the coins were made up of silver and gold"

Yes an interesting parallel to our own time. Warfare is expensive, to continue to expand one's empire one needs to commit to fraud with the currency.. there are other examples.. and the end of result Rome was...? Collapse.

"and ancient spain - and how with a massive influx of aztec gold things went bad for them"

What went bad for them was the British. Acquiring money (or Gold) and hoarding wealth should never be ones ultimate goal.
Incidently the British also had their currency backed by gold until the 1920s.

"russia and how people with gold coins in the city starved to death while the farmers in the countryside feasted on roasted duck and potatoes and good vodka"

Are you describing events in Russia when the Germans invaded..? Nope, you forgot what I was posted to you earlier in the week: "Certainly food, oil, weapons, water, bunkers lined with lead, women who look like Angelina Jolie are considered more desirable at times than Gold and/or Money"
