Huge difference! A cat-5 hurricane on a city below sea level like New Orleans is infinitely worse than a major quake here. Anchorage survived the 9.2 Good Friday earthquake in 1964 with only 9 people killed.

Most of the 131 deaths were caused elsewhere by tsunamis. Anchorage is not very vulnerable to tsunamis because of local geography. But amazingly, the Alaska quake sunk several fishing boats in far away Louisiana!

No one in their right mind is asking for cat. 5 protection. Decent cat. 3 plus coastal restoration is all we want.
