Sorry, no link to AstroPower. The company started out a few years ago, went public with symbol APWR, then "lost" a government research contract (under questionable circumstances), declared bankruptcy and was sold, patents and all, to GE for $15 million. At one point the company had a market cap of about $200 million. Its solar panels at one time were being marketed through firms such as The Home Depot, as well as directly to housing developers in southern California, who incorporated the solar panels into the roof.

I noticed the latest news on SPWR, concerning a large contract for solar panels, the design for which looks even better than those that were produced by AstroPower. Seems to me that the real market for these solar panels is mostly outside the U.S., especially in places where the electricity infrastructure is weak or nonexistent.
