I was very uninterested in history, and still am really.

I know you are a "small L" libertarian, Mq.

Your view of religion leads you to a distaste for Islam anyway. That is why I thought you might have picked up on Orientalism, which is the name for the original study of Arabs and Islam that was done by the west, especially the Victorians. The Victorians looked upon Islam as a "barrack's religion." One based on a warrior code. Edward Said was a Palestinian born in Jeruselem in '35. Died in '02. His book on the subject rules the ME depts of our universities today. It is a very pro-muslim, anti-american viewpoint of the situation.

When it comes to history, I have always believed this quote:

Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
George Santayana

Mq-

As we have discussed before we are engaged in WWW111 or W1V ..take your choice.

Trigger-happy air marshals worry me more than Islamic Jihad because even if they aren't shooting, their type is lurking everywhere, being authoritarian. Bossy, intrusive, kleptocratic government departments are everywhere, suffocating people.

We (me, my wife, and Welsh Corgi) are fortunate that you are not in charge of OUR security.
