As the World Gold Council pointed out, Asian investors are the world largest gold consumers, but gold only takes 1.1 percent in China's official reserves, or 1.3 and 3.6 percent in Japan and India respectively. A sharp contrast is the American percentage of 63.8 percent, and over 50 percent in Germany, France and Italy respectively.

From the original post - Why would you pick any currency over the US curency? America has 63.8 percent. hehe

Then Soviet military power didn't really fade.

I had some colleagues from the ukraine go to college with me - they were very adjusted to lots of people being killed with lots of violence and bloodshed. These ukrainians would talk about how they liked it when the soldiers went in one or 2 states/cities over and wiped out hundreds of people. He was not the pacified american type that watches oprah - the soviets lost control of the minds and hearts of their various citizens - their military could not kill enough to keep things in check - and the state fell apart - the USA I am seeing is nowhere NEAR close to that yet. I dont see people in florida CHEER when thousands die in new orleans - but that is what this ukraine bunch did when thier fellow men died a few hundred miles away - they would often tell me - "bastards didn't deserve to live as long as they did"

I met some more exchange students from croatia - one told me of his father going out into the street and executing three muslims - said the bastards deserved it - should have had thier heads bashed in at birth. I just don't meet a lot of american citizens with this mindset yet - things have a lot futher to go from what I see before our state implodes like that one.

One of the ukraine guys was dating a girl from Russia - st petersberg was her home I believe - she was married to a police captain back home - talked of a few executions - was on the run from her husband and desperately wanting her ukraine boyfriend to get american citizenship so she could marry him and stay here in the land of plenty.

The swiss - thinking in terms of lifestyle - do they have the same conveniences as an american? Can my sisters drive their hummers for as cheap over there taking my nieces to the soccer games?
