Al, Culture...among other factors Of course, but that's easy to say in hindsight. During the war, it sure was hell getting to that point. Even after Japan was pushed back all the way to their homeland, the prevailing view was that Japan would fight all the way down to the last man. Hence the decision to use the nuke and avoid further American casualties that would result from a full-scale invasion. Maybe one of these days, we can look back on a dead Islamic fundamentalist movement and figure out that most Muslims are actually peace-loving and pragmatic. Unfortunately, it may be hell getting there as well. We can only hope that it isn't. Tenchusatsu
