Only requirement for victory among the Republicans: Be convincing on GOD and COUNTRY (Mad Cow and "RUDY!!!" both fail, so it's someone else.)

Democrat requirement? BECOME convincing on GOD and COUNTRY. then try to survive the foaming-at-the-mouth rage of the raving, wild-eyed base...

The hope for Democrats is that they can manage, after their '06 disaster, not just to distance themselves from the left wing domestic enemy, but bring ridicule and transparency on it that drives it back into the Leninist sewers..
