New Technology Expands Market Footprint

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Stratex Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: STXN - News), a leading provider of wireless transmission solutions, announced today it has commenced commercial shipments of next-generation Eclipse(TM) products. Using new technology developed at Stratex Networks, these new products utilize dramatically simplified radio designs, enabling reductions in cost, improvements in manufacturing, and more rapid delivery of solutions to customers and partners. These new products are designed to deliver a higher proportion of value to Stratex Networks' customers and partners through software and to address expanded distribution channels.

The first products being introduced extend the E300 family of Eclipse high capacity radios. The new Eclipse E300hp is a high performance, cost-effective, outdoor mounted radio designed for high-volume applications and for wider commercial distribution than any previous product from Stratex Networks.

With the launch of the E300hp, Stratex Networks is now also introducing Eclipse products into new distribution channels in both North America and International markets in order to make Eclipse technology more widely available. In a separate press release today, Stratex is announcing a global licensing agreement with Alcatel for certain Eclipse products utilizing this new technology.

"We are extremely pleased to announce the availability of next-generation Eclipse technology, which we believe is an important step forward in our commitment to rapidly advance innovation in our industry," stated Chuck Kissner, Chairman and CEO of Stratex Networks. "As we have evolved our business over the past few years, it is clear that the role of software product offerings, innovation in reducing hardware costs, and wider distribution of our designs are all increasingly important for our customers and our company. With the introduction of this new technology for wireless transmission solutions, over the next one to two years we plan to grow the channels for our products and continue to evolve our software business model. With our expanding product portfolio, we also intend to continue to grow our traditional sales channels as Eclipse establishes its brand as the leading wireless solution of its type."

Eclipse E300hp is now shipping.
