The presence of foreign fighters in Iraq is continually spun by the administration. The number of Al Qaeda is virtually unknown. It can only be estimated. Perhaps a handful of Al Qaeda are in Iraq. They are not the problem, though, as the overwhelming majority of attacks (95% to 100%...I've seen no evidence of Al Qaeda attacks) are launched by Iraqis.

We are fighting Iraqis in Iraq...plain and simple. If there are Al Qaeda operatives...and I repeat...IF...then they are there because we opened the door for them. They are allowed to remain there...if they are there...because the Iraqis are not adverse to someone helping them in a common cause. The moment that the US is out, the Iraqis will turn on the foreigners and run them out.

What the spin is all about, is making the molehill into a mountain. By doing this, the administration tries to keep alive the myth that Iraq and Al Qaeda are in cahoots against the US, and even plotted the 9-11 attacks. A very large number of people in the US believe this, you included. I don't blame you, as you are a victim of constant barrage of lies from Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. Propaganda by this administration has been useful in keeping Americans "dumbed down". They are using the same techniques in Iraq...buying newspaper reporters off to print stories favorable to the US.

Even today, as Bush talks about the war in Iraq, he never balks at including September 11th in the speech. There in lies the fallacy...as it has been shown over and over that Iraq did not have any WMD, nor did they participate with Al Qaeda in the attack on 9-11.

Your use of statistics with respect to drunk driving has no relation to this discussion.
