But the fact is that Abgenix was bought because of the drugs in development and not its mastery of getting human antibodies out of mice. Antibodies are cheap to get these days. Medarex will provide a typical cash-and-carry mouse for 10 mUSD in milestones and 3-5 % royalties. No need to buy the company for billions of dollars to gain the benefits from their technology. MDX-010 on the other hand. That's a very good reason. Erik
