If you have noticed, Lindy's thread has shrunk to a coterie of minds that pretty much agree with each other. Any time a liberal passes through they are pretty much banned- which is fine, but I don't think Lindy is preaching to anyone but the choir. This thread seems to have a bit of both sides, so what Dale has to say reaches more people.

On the other hand, I don't think reading stuff on the internet changes people much, so the "message" doesn't really matter. People just seem to find the thread where they are comfortable, and settle in. I know some people believe there is a "spread the message" value in all this, but I haven't seen it.

Instead of beating my own drum, I prefer to find well-written articles and commentaries that reflect what I am thinking, then post them here with an introductory comment.

Frankly, I hope that the substantial number of people who have me peoplemarked will absorb some of the message and stop to think twice before they vote for an incumbent next time around.

As for spreading the message elsewhere, I just have zero interest in arguing with ideologues. I would rather talk to the wall or debate a parrot at a pet shop. Same result.

Good ideas will prevail over time. Sometimes we get sidetracked for 5-10 years, but we always get back to a positive path in the end. The far right's fading appeal is proof of that, and it won't be the far left that replaces them. Middle America isn't interested in that message, especially.
