Btian, that forecast may be pessimistic. Vista is coming before the end of next year and that may persuade people to upgrade. Besides, the low price of consumer PCs means that they can upgrade more often than in the past.

The current sales and unit growth rate enjoyed by the PC industry is due for a slowdown in 2006, says a Standard & Poor’s report.

It seems to me they constantly revising actual upwards echoed by downward revision for the future.
IMHO nobody knows/can predict what will happen in emerging markets in particular mainland as mainland develops/serves its own market.
Just look at Asian community in CA - lots of small size business

I am really getting tired of these guys consistently calling this cycle dead or slow.

In this year they missed a 5-10% projection on the low side every quarter.

When will they learn that China,Asia,India,Africa are all enjoying the digitization of data over the internet.

When you leapfrop the communication capabilities with WIMAX - long distance wireless and othe r hot spot capabilities - it becomes much more than a replacement cycle.

It becomes an enabling secular growth phenom.

These guys just don't get it and they'll be wrong all next year too.

JMHO
